Pasado simple (Simple Past)

1. Características

Se usa para acciones completadas en el pasado, con tiempo definido.

Ejemplos:

  • Yesterday, I studied.

  • Last week, she went to the doctor.

2. Verbos regulares

Forman el pasado agregando -ed.

Reglas

  1. Verbos comunes

    • work → worked

    • play → played

  2. Verbos que terminan en -e

    • like → liked

    • love → loved

  3. Verbos que terminan en consonante + y
    Cambia y → i + ed

    • study → studied

    • carry → carried

  4. Verbos que duplican la consonante final
    (CVC + acento en la última sílaba)

    • stop → stopped

    • plan → planned

Estructura

  • Afirmativa: sujeto + verbo -ed

  • Negativa: didn’t + verbo base

  • Pregunta: Did + sujeto + verbo base

Ejemplos:

  • I visited the hospital.

  • I didn’t visit the hospital.

  • Did you visit the hospital?

3. Verbos irregulares

No usan -ed.
Tienen una forma específica en pasado.

Ejemplos:

  • go → went

  • have → had

  • see → saw

  • make → made

  • take → took

  • come → came

  • give → gave

  • eat → ate

Estructura

  • Afirmativa: sujeto + forma irregular

  • Negativa: didn’t + verbo base (go, see, eat…)

  • Pregunta: Did + sujeto + verbo base

Ejemplos:

  • She went to the clinic.

  • She didn’t go to the clinic.

  • Did she go to the clinic?

  • Costumbres pasadas (sin continuidad)

Ejemplos:

  • I checked the patient and then wrote the report.

  • He worked in a hospital last year.
